The Netherlands Motor Vessel Musketier

SEVEN MEN RESCUED FROM DUTCH MOTOR VESSEL Anstruther, Fife. At 9.30 on the morning of the 2nd November, 1962, the coastguard informed the honorary secretary that the Netherlands motor vessel Muskctier of Groningen, was aground on Balcomie Briggs rocks, and at 9.50 the life-boat James and Ruby Jackson was launched. There was a moderate south-south-easterly breeze, the sea was moderate, and the tide ebbing. The life-boat came as close to the vessel as she could in a heavy swell, and the crew of seven of the Musket ier then abandoned their ship in two rubber dinghies. These drifted down to the life-boat, which rescued the seven men, took the dinghies in tow and returned to her station, arriving at 12.50. The Netherlands Ambassador expressed his thanks and congratulated the life-boat crew..
