TOW FOR YACHT IN FOG Barry Dock, Glamorganshire. At 3.40 on the afternoon of the 20th October, 1962, the honorary secretary received a message from the coastguard that a small yacht with one man on board appeared in difficulties off St. Marywell Bay, Penarth. There was a gentle eastsouth- easterly breeze with a choppy sea.

It was foggy. At 4.5 the life-boat Rachel and Mary Evans was launched on the ebbing tide. On reaching the position, the life-boat found the motor cruiser Gillian broken down with engine trouble. The life-boat took the Gillian in tow and brought her safely back to Barry and then returned to her station, arriving at six o'clock..
