Seawitch

YACHT TOWED IN AS GALE SPRINGS UP Portpatrick, Wigtownshire. At 6.35 on the evening of the 8th September, 1962, the coastguard informed the honorary secretary that a yacht needed help immediately twenty-five miles north-west of Portpatrick. There was a moderate south-westerly breeze with a slight sea, and it was just after high water. At 6.48 the life-boat The Jeanie put out and on reaching the position given found the motor yacht Seawitch broken down with engine trouble. There were nine people on board. The Seawitch was taken in tow. The weather began to deteriorate, and a south-westerly gale sprang up as the life-boat towed the yacht to safety. The life-boat reached her station at three o'clock the next morning. The owner made a donation to the branch funds and a gift to the life-boat crew..
