TWO SWIMMERS TAKEN OFF ROCK Sennen Cove, Cornwall. At 4.50 on the afternoon of the 28th July, 1962, the coastguard informed the honorary secretary that two young men were in difficulties after swimming from Lands End to a rock known as the Armed Knight. Because of the strong ebb tide they were unable to swim back, and at five o'clock the life-boat Susan Ashley was launched in light westerly airs and a smooth sea. The coxswain took the life-boat to the lee of the rock and the two boys were taken on board. Soon afterwards a helicopter reached the scene, but it was not needed. The two young men were landed at Sennen Cove, and the life-boat reached her station at 5.30..
