TOW FOR YACHT WITH ENGINE BREAKDOWN Troon, Ayrshire. At 3.30 on the afternoon of the 7th September, 1962, the pilot at Troon harbour informed the honorary secretary that a small cabin cruiser appeared to be in difficulties and drifting close to the rocks at Barassie, one mile north of Troon harbour. At 3.53 the life-boat James and Barbara Aitken left her moorings in a fresh to strong westerly wind and a moderate sea. It was two hours before high water. The life-boat found the cabin cruiser Maureen with one man on board. Her engine had broken down, and the life-boat took her in tow to harbour, reaching her station at 4.29..
