Lady Sophie

YACHT TAKEN IN TOW IN GALE Howth, Co. Dublin. At 3.47 on the afternoon of the 26th August, 1962, the Baily lighthouse-keeper informed the honorary secretary that a motor yacht which he had kept under observation for twenty-five minutes was out of control.

The life-boat A.M.T. left her moorings at 4.5 in a west-south-westerly gale and a rough sea. It was low water. The life-boat found the motor yacht Lady Sophie of Dun Laoghaire, with four people on board, making very little progress in the severe weather conditions.

She took her in tow to moorings alongside the west pier. The life-boat reached her own moorings at 6.40..
