TOW FOR FISHING VESSEL TO DOCK Lerwick, Shetlands. At 6.35 on the morning of the 14th May, 1962, the coastguard informed the honorary secretary that the motor fishing vessel Vesper had fouled her propeller with a net and was drifting off Helliness Head.

The Vesper was in no immediate danger but needed a tow into Lerwick. There was a gentle west-south-west wind with a slight sea. At 7.5 the life-boat Claude Cecil Staniforth was launched two hours before high water. She took the Vesper in tow to Hays dock at Lerwick and reached her station at 8.45..
