TOW FOR FISHING BOAT IN FOG Dungeness, Kent. At 2.5 on the afternoon of the 6th May, 1962, the coastguard informed the honorary secretary that the local fishing boat Sea Venture was overdue. She had last been seen south of Newcombe buoy at midday.

At 2.20 the life-boat Mabel E. Holland was launched at high water in a gentle south-westerly wind and a choppy sea.

Mist and fog reduced visibility. The lifeboat found the Sea Venture with a crew of five one mile north of Newcombe buoy. Her engine had broken down, and the life-boat took her in tow to Dungeness, arriving at 3.15..
