The Abertay Lightvessel

DOCTOR TAKEN TO LIGHTVESSEL Broughty Ferry, Angus. At 5.15 on the afternoon of the 1st January, 1962, the harbour master informed the honorary secretary that a member of the crew of the Abertay lightvessel had fallen down the engine-room ladder and was badly injured. A doctor was needed immediately.

There was a light west-northwesterly breeze with a slight sea. At 5.30 the life-boat The Robert was launched at low water with a doctor on board. The life-boat put the doctor aboard the Abertay lightvessel and later embarked the injured man and the doctor and landed them at Broughty Ferry. The injured man was taken by ambulance to hospital. The life-boat reached her station at 7.15..
