LOCAL FISHING FLEET ESCORTED TO HARBOUR Thurso, Caithness-shire. At 4.30 on the afternoon of the 7th February, 1962, the honorary secretary decided that because of the bad weather conditions the life-boat Pentland (Civil Service No. 31) should be launched to escort the local fishing fleet to harbour.

The life-boat put out at 4.40 in a strong north-north-easterly wind and a very rough sea. The tide was half ebb.

After escorting several fishing vessels to harbour the life-boat reached her station at 8.15..
