Pamparo

Great Yarmouth and Gorleston, Nor- folk. At 11.58 on the morning of the 4th October, 1961, the coastguard informed the honorary secretary that a yacht appeared to be in difficulties north of the harbour mouth. At 12.4 the life-boat Louise Stephens was laun- ched in a strong southerly wind and a rough sea. It was two hours before low water. The life-boat found the yacht Pamparo unable to make Gorleston because of the strong ebb tide. On board the yacht was a teacher from Horning, who was completing a voyage of a thousand miles from Belle-lie, France. The yacht was taken in tow to harbour, and the life-boat reached her station at 1.13..
