Liberty

Kirkcudbright. At 11.10 on the night of the 28th December, 1961, the bow- man told the honorary secretary that the local motor fishing vessel Liberty was on the rocks at Ross Island with engine trouble. She had one man aboard.

The bowman had found the Liberty while he had been fishing in his own boat. The life-boat /. B. Couper of Glasgow was launched at 11.45. There was a model ate west-south-westerly wind and a slight sea. It was two hours after low water. The life-boat reached the fishing vessel and helped her to re- float on the high tide.
