Durhambrook

Donaghadee, Co. Down. At 7.13 on the evening of the 7th December, 1961, the motor mechanic passed on to the honorary secretary a message from the coastguard at Orlock. This was that the motor vessel Durhambrook of London had asked for the life-boat to bring out a doctor to attend a man who had been injured by an explosion on board. The life-boat Sir Samuel Kelly left her moor- ings at 7.20, with a doctor on board, in a light southerly breeze and a moderate sea. The tide was half flood. She met the Durhambrook off Millisle, and the in- jured man was taken on board. The life-boat then returned to Donaghadee, arriving at nine o'clock. An ambulance was waiting to take the man to hospital..
