Fire Aboard by FRANK RUSHBROOK (The Technical Press, 1961) is a most comprehensive work by a man who first became a fireman in 1938 and has since held a number of responsible posts concerned with the task of fire fighting.
There is a historical section describing early methods of combating fire at sea; detailed descriptions are given of mod- ern training and equipment; there is a useful summary of legislation; and accounts are included of famous fires both at sea and on board ships in port.
The book is excellently illustrated and produced, and for all those concerned with the challenging task of trying to overcome the effects of fires at sea it provides an admirable work of reference.
The Rev. Edgar Newgass has pub- lished his Collected Poems some of which have religious themes and many of which are inspired by the familiar sights of the countryside, particularly in Sussex.
