Two Boats
Dunbar, Haddingtonshire. At 12.15 on the afternoon of the 9th July, 1961, the coastguard informed the honorary sec- retary that the police had reported two small boats in difficulties on the rocks off Dunbar old bathing pool. A strong west-north-westerly wind was blowing with a rough sea. The tide was half flood. The message stated that one boat had sunk and the other had become waterlogged: three men had managed to reach the rocks and were in extreme danger because of the flooding tide. At 12.25 the life-boat Margaret put out with the boarding boat in tow. On reaching the position, the boarding boat went in close, picked up the three men and brought them to the life-boat. The life-boat landed them at the harbour and reached her station at one o'clock..
