Fishguard, Pembrokeshire. At 12.13 early on the morning of the 10th July, 1961, the coastguard passed on to the honorary secretary a report from the Strumble Head lighthouse that a red flare had been seen two miles to the north-west. There was a fresh south- westerly breeze with a choppy sea. At 12.43 the life-boat Howard Marryat was launched at low water. She found the motor launch Sea Lion broken down six miles west of Strumble Head. Seven people were on board, and they were taken off by the life-boat, which then towed the Sea Lion into Fishguard har- bour.
