Rosslare Harbour, Co. Wexford. At 9.20 on the morning of the 13th Septem- ber, 1961, the inspector of Irish Lights informed the honorary secretary that a man working on Tuskar Rock wanted to be brought to the mainland as his father was dangerously ill. As no other boat was available, the services of the life-boat were requested. A strong south-south-westerly wind was blow- ing with a rough sea. On being con- tacted by radio-telephone the keepers on Tuskar Rock told the life-boat station that because of the weather no landing was possible on the rock. The next day the weather improved, and at 2.20 in the afternoon the life-boat H. F. Bailey, on temporary duty at the station, put to sea at low water with a large boarding boat in tow. On reach- ing Tuskar Rock she successfully took off the man, whom she landed at Rosslare Harbour. The life-boat then returned to her station, arriving at 4.45..
