H.M. the Queen invested each of the five members of the crew of the Moelfre life-boat who took part in the rescue from the coaster Hindlea on the 27th October, 1959, with the silver medal for gallantry in saving life at sea at Bucking- ham Palace on the 13th July, 1961. The five members of the crew were Coxswain Richard Evans, Motor Mechanic Evan Owens, Acting Second Coxswain Hugh Owen, Acting Assistant Mechanic Donald Francis and member of the crew Hugh Jones.
