Cramarye

Clacton-on-Sea, Essex. At 5.51 on the evening of the 3rd August, 1961, the mechanic informed the coastguard that a yacht had dragged her anchors and drifted down on to the pier. The yacht had five men on board. At 6.30 the life-boat Sir Godfrey Baring was launched. There was a moderate south-westerly breeze with a slight sea, and the tide was ebbing. The crew of the yacht, the Cramarye, were rescued by local boatmen and onlookers at the pier, and the life-boat then took the yacht in tow to Brightlingsea, which was reached at 9.52. The life-boat remained there for the night..
