A Speed Boat and a Motor Boat

Pwllheli, Caernarvonshire. At five o'clock on the afternoon of the 18th August, 1961, the coxswain told the honorary secretary that two boats which he had been asked to keep under observation were making no headway.

As the wind was freshening, he thought the life-boat should be sent to their help.

At 5.30 on an ebbing tide the life-boat Katherine and Virgoe Buckland was launched. The sea was rough, and there was a fresh breeze blowing. The life- boat came up with a speedboat and a motor boat two miles south-south-east of Pen-y-Chain and took them both in tow to Pwllheli, which was reached at 7.15. The owner of the speedboat made a donation to the branch funds..
