A Launch

Mallaig, Inverness-shire. At 7.45 on the morning of the 4th July, 1961, the coastguard informed the honorary sec- retary that a small launch was drifting in the direction of Rhum Island and was a danger to navigation. The life-boat E. M. M. Gordon Cubbin left her moorings at eight o'clock in a strong north-easterly wind and a rough sea.

The tide was flooding. The life-boat found the empty launch half a mile north-east of Rhum Island and took her in tow to Rhum harbour. She then returned to her station, arriving at 1.30..
