Hastings, Sussex. At 7.12 on the evening of the 31 st of March, 1961, the coast- guard informed the honorary secretary that the fishing boat Linda with a crew of two was having engine trouble two and a half miles south-east of Fairlight.
At 7.38, when the life-boat Lucy Lavers, on temporary duty at the station, was launched, there was a moderate westerly wind with a choppy sea. The tide was half flood. The life-boat reached the Linda at 8.55 and took her in tow to Hastings. She returned to her station at eleven o'clock..
