Betty Sheader, Betty and Florence

Scarborough, Yorkshire. At 12.40 on the afternoon of the 6th of January, 1961, the honorary secretary was told that three local fishing cobles were at sea in weather which was deteriorating.

There was a strong to gale force north- easterly wind with a rough sea, and it was low water. At 12.45 the life-boat J. G. Graves of Sheffield was launched.

Shortly after leaving harbour she met the cobles Betty Sheader and Betty and escorted them in. She met the third coble, Florence, about four miles east- south-east of Scarborough and escortedher to safety too. She then returned to her station, arriving at 3.45..
