When the life-boat Charles Dibdin (Civil Service No. 32) was launched at 2.35 there was a near gale from the south-south-east and a rough sea. It was low water. The Dutch fishing vessel Adriana Johanna of Scheveningen was found aground midway between the Kellet Gut and the East Goodwin lightvessel with the Trinity House Vessel Patricia standing by. Both the Patricia and the life-boat stood by until the fishing vessel was refloated by the French tug Farouche. The life-boat reached her station at 8.50..
