Tempo
Lowestoft, Suffolk. At 4.2 on the afternoon of the 18th of December, 1960, the coastguard informed the honorary secretary that a longshore boat about a mile north of the coast- guard look-out was flashing a distress signal. There was a light west-north- westerly wind and a smooth sea. The weather was overcast with drizzle and fog patches. At 4.15 the life-boat Michael Stevens left her moorings on a flood tide. On reaching the position given she found the longshore boat Tempo of Great Yarmouth, with her engine broken down, and a small boat standing by. The life-boat towed the Tempo to Lowestoft harbour and returned to her station at five o'clock..
