Oredian
Workington, Cumberland. At 2.30 on the afternoon of the 15th of November, 1960, the honorary secretary was in- formed that the ore carrier Oredian of London had an injured man on board and had asked for a doctor. As it was low water and no other boat was able to put out, the life-boat Manchester and Salford XXIX left her moorings at three o'clock with a doctor on board. There was a strong south-south-westerly wind and a rough sea. The life-boat put the doctor on board the Oredian at 3.30.
After treating the patient the doctor reboarded the life-boat, which returned to her station at five o'clock..
