Dover, Kent. At 7.17 on the evening of the 27th of October, 1960, the eastern arm signal station informed the honorary secretary that a man on a bicycle had gone over the wall into the eastern dock. When the life-boat Southern Africa put out at 7.30 to search, the tide was half ebb and there was a fresh south-westerly wind and a choppy sea.
