Johs. Stove

Portrush, Co. Antrim. At 12.30 early on the morning of the 23rd of Decem- ber, 1960, the coastguard informed the honorary secretary that the tanker Johs. Stove of Oslo wanted to land a sick man and that her estimated time of arrival off Portrush was 5.30. Arrange- ments were made for the life-boat Lady Scott (Civil Service No. 4) to be launched when the tanker was off Portstewart. There was a moderate south-westerly wind and a slight sea when the life-boat was launched at 7.2 on the flood tide. The sick man was transferred to the life-boat, which reached Portrush at 8.45, where the patient was put into a waiting ambulance..
