As the weather was deteriorat- ing it was decided, in the absence of the honorary secretary, to launch the life- boat The Isa & Penryn Milsted.

When she put out at 11.25, there was a strong south-easterly wind and a rough sea. It was one hour before high water.

The cobles were all escorted to safety by 3.55, and the life-boat returned to her station ten minutes later..
