Fishing Cobles

Filey, Yorkshire. At 10.35 on the morning of the 28th of December, 1960, the coastguard told the motor mechanic that eleven local cobles were at sea fishing. As the weather was deteriorat- ing it was decided, in the absence of the honorary secretary, to launch the life- boat The Isa & Penryn Milsted.

When she put out at 11.25, there was a strong south-easterly wind and a rough sea. It was one hour before high water.

The cobles were all escorted to safety by 3.55, and the life-boat returned to her station ten minutes later..
