Soft Wings

Falmouth, Cornwall. At 2.15 on the afternoon of the 6th of July, 1960, the coastguard informed the honorarysecretary that a fishing boat was burn- ing an orange smoke signal south-east of St. Anthony Head. The life-boat Crawford and Constance Conybeare was launched at 2.25 in a gentle westerly breeze and a choppy sea. It was one hour before high water. The fishing boat Soft Wings, with a crew of four, was found drifting out to sea with a rope round her propeller. The life- boat towed the boat to safety and arrived back at her station at 3.45.

Rewards to the crew, £4..
