Bembridge, Isle of Wight. At 4.35 on the morning of the 6th of July, 1960, the coastguard informed the honorary secretary that a yacht with a crew of four had been reported in difficulties some fifteen miles south- east of St. Catherine's Point light- house. The life-boat Jesse Lumb was launched at 4.51 in a moderate westerly breeze. There was a moderate sea and the tide was flooding. The life-boat came up with the ketch Adele Jeanne, which had developed engine trouble, and towed her back to Bembridge, arriving at 9.50.
