The life-boat Samuel and Marie Parkhouse was launched at 4.55 in a gentle south-easterly breeze and a moderate sea. It was low water. At 5.15 the coastguard informed the honor- ary secretary that a yacht was making for Hope Cove for shelter, and this message was passed to the life-boat by radio-telephone.
