No other boat being available, the life-boat Henry Blogg was launched at 7.55 in a moderate south- westerly breeze and a corresponding sea.

It was two hours after high water. The man was picked up about half a mile east of the life-boat station in an exhausted condition. The life - boat arrived back at her station at nine o'clock.
