At 9.54 on the evening of the 29th of September, 1960, the coastguard informed the honorary secretary that a motor yacht Antaurus, which was without lights and had an unreliable engine, was overdue at Rams- gate. She had last been seen at 7.35 a mile and a half east of Kingsgate. The life-boat Michael and Lily Davis was launched at 10.5 in a gentle-to-moderate easterly breeze and a moderate sea.
