At 1.20 on the afternoon of the 27th of August, 1960, the coastguard informed the honorary secretary that a motor launch was being towed by the steamer Foxfield, and asked if the life-boat could meet the vessels off Caldey Island. There were light south-westerly airs with a calm sea. The tide was half ebb. The life-boat Henry Comber Brown was launched and met the vessels south of Caldey.
