At 1.10 early on the morning of the 8th of May, 1960, the port medical officer told the honor- ary secretary that a member of the crew of the Seven Stones lightvessel was ill and asked if the life-boat could land him. At two o'clock, one hour before high water, the life-boat W. and S. was launched with the doctor and ambulance men on board. The weather was fine with a light south-easterly breeze and a slight sea.
