Rowallen Castle

Penlee, Cornwall. At seven o'clock on the evening of the 15th of June, 1960, the honorary secretary was informed that a man on board the motor vessel Rowallen Castle, of London, which was expected to arrive in Mounts Bay at midnight, needed medical attention.

At 11.30 the life-boat W. and S. put out with a doctor on board, at high water, in a fresh south-westerly wind and a moderate sea. She met the Rowallen Castle four miles south of Penzance and put the doctor on board. The man, who had a swollen left leg, was treated by the doctor and was then transferred to the life-boat, which landed him at Newlyn at 1.30. The life-boat reached her moorings at two o'clock.
