Thurso, Caithness-shire. At 2.45 on the morning of the 17th of May, 1960, the life-boat Pentland (Civil Service No. 31) was launched one hour after high water to the help of the motor fishing vessel Fame of Lossiemouttu which was ashore on Clarendon Head in dense fog. The sky was heavily overcast, and there were light north- easterly airs and a smooth sea. The life-boat found the Fame, which had a crew of seven. Four of the crew were taken on board and landed at Scrab- ster, the skipper and two men remaining •with their vessel, which was in no danger. The life-boat reached her station at 6.30.
