Award for Bravest Act of Lifesaving

THE Maud Smith award for the bravest act of life-saving by a member of a life- boat crew in 1959 has been won by Coxswain Richard Evans of Moelfre for the rescue of the crew of the coaster Hindlea, which went aground in a hurricane on the 27th of October, 1959.

A full account of this service, for which Coxswain Evans was awarded the Institution's gold medal for gallantry, appeared in the March 1960 number of the Life-boat on page 380..
