Our Boys

Skegness, Lines. At 4.25 on the afternoon of the 4th of October, 1959, the coastguard told the coxswain that red flares had been seen coming from a fishing boat off Ingoldmells Point. At 4.55 the life-boat The Cuttle was launched in a rough sea. There was a strong north-easterly wind, and the tide was half flood. The life-boat found the fishing boat Our Boys of Boston with two men and a dog aboard. The fishing boat was leaking badly, and her engine was flooded. The life-boat took her in tow to a safe anchorage in Wainfleet haven and reached her station at 8.25.

The coxswain later drove the men and their dog in his car to Boston. Rewards to the crew, £12 5s. ; rewards to the helpers on shore, £5 9s..
