Newhaven, Sussex. At 10.22 on the morning of the 30th of December, 1959, the coastguard passed on to the honor- ary secretary a report from the police at Brighton that a woman had fallen in the sea off Saltdean. At 10.35 the life-boat Kathleen Mary was launched in a slight sea. There was a light south- westerly wind and it was one hour before high water. The woman was found and taken on board the life-boat.

Artificial respiration was given, but she did not recover. The life-boat reached her station at 12.15. Rewards to the crew, £8 15s. ; rewards to the helpers on shore, £3 13s..
