Young Paul
Lowestoft, Suffolk. At 9.5 on the evening of the 6th of September, 1959, the coastguard informed the honorary secretary that two men were burning red flares from a small boat two miles north of Lowestoft harbour. At 9.15 the life-boat Cunard, on temporary duty at the station, left her moorings in a moderate sea with a fresh easterly wind blowing and a flood tide. She found the fishing boat Young Paul of Lowes- toft with a crew of two. The boat's engine had broken down and she was leaking. The life-boat took her in tow and reached her station at 10.45. Re- wards to the crew, £8 ; rewards to the helpers on shore, £1 4s..
