Teesmouth, Yorkshire. At six o'clock on the morning of the 4th of September.

1959, the honorary secretary received a message from the lighthouse-keeper at South Gare that a vessel had gone ashore in the River Tees. Further enquiries were made, and at 6.45 the life-boat John and Lucy Cordingley was launched at high water in thick fog. She found the s.s. Cairnavon of Newcastle on the Stones near no. 5 buoy. She stood by until the ship refloated and then returned to her station, arriving at 12.30. Rewards to the crew, £12 12s. ; rewards to the helpers on shore, £6 3s..
