Fiver II

Walmer, Kent. At 4.14 on the after- noon of the 12th of July, 1959, the life- boat Charles Dibdin (Civil Service No.

32) was returning to her station from Dover after being on display at the Royal Show at Oxford, when the coxswain saw two men aboard a motor boat in Fan Bay waving a flag and flashing torches to attract attention.

There was a rough sea with a fresh south-westerly wind blowing. It was high water. The life-boat found the motor boat Fiver II of Dover broken down close to the rocky foreshore. She had a crew of three. The life-boat took her in tow to Dover harbour and then continued her passage to Walmer, which was reached at six o'clock.
