Annasona

Southend-on-Sea, Essex. At 7.47 on the evening of the 7th of July, 1959, the coastguard informed the honorary secretary that a yacht was ashore a quarter of a mile north-west of West Middle buoy. At 7.58 the life-boat Greater London II (Civil Service No. 30) was launched in a moderate sea. There was a moderate easterly wind and it was low water. The life-boat found the yacht Annasona of Chatham with three men on board hard aground. They declined assistance, and the coxswain decided to stand by until the yacht refloated on the next tide. The life-boat reached her station at 12.30. Rewards to the crew, £8 ; rewards to the helpers on shore, £4 16s..
