Liberty
Kirkcudbright. At 12.40 on the after- noon of the 30th of April, 1959, the coxswain was told that the motor fishing vessel Liberty of Ballantrae needed help six miles south-by-east of Little Ross.
The life-boat /. B. Couper of Glasgow was launched at 12.59 in a slight sea.
There was a gentle west-by-northerly wind and it was low water. The life- boat found the Liberty, with one man aboard, drifting with her engine broken down. She took her in tow to Kirkcud- bright harbour and reached her station at 6.15. The owner of the fishing vessel made a donation to the Institution's funds. Rewards to the crew, £9 Is. ; rewards to the helpers on shore, £3 19s..
