Beaumaris, Anglesey. At 5.5 on the afternoon of the 31st of May, 1959, the honorary secretary was informed that a sailing dinghy was adrift in Beaumaris Bay and needed help. At 5.25 the life- boat Field Marshal and Mrs. Smuts was launched in a choppy sea, with a light south-westerly wind blowing and a flood tide. She found the sailing dinghy a mile and a half south of the life-boat slipway half filled with water.
