Fenit, Co. Kerry. At noon on the 22nd of January, 1959, the life-boat Hilton Briggs put out in a heavy swell to the help of the motor vessel Sheraton of Rotterdam. A gale was blowing from the north-north-east, and the tide was flooding. The Dutch vessel, with a crew of nineteen, had been stand- ing off in Tralee Bay throughout the previous night as a pilot had been unable to board her because of the weather conditions and her master did not have a local chart. The life-boat escorted her safely into harbour. Re- wards to the crew, £5 ; reward to the helper on shore, 13s..
