THE thanks of the Institution inscribed on vellum have been accorded to Assistant Mechanic James Turpin of Fowey, Cornwall, who swam a hundred yards through broken water from the Fowey life-boat to the help of a young woman and an auxiliary coastguard, who had been cut off by the tide on the 12th of September, 1958.
