Valentia, Co. Kerry. At 1.10 on the afternoon of the 9th of December, 1958, a message was received that a small motor boat was being driven ashore west of Portmagee. At 1.30 the life- boat Rowland Watts put out in a rough sea. There was a north-westerly wind of near gale force and a flood tide. The life-boat found the motor boat Spray of Tralee with a crew of two. Her anchor and trawl had been put out to keep her off the rocks.
